This WIN Enterprises customer is a leading provider of solutions for managing communications infrastructure, including satellite, terrestrial, internet, and broadcast. Company products include an award winning management system and a suite of products for managing remote sites and portable terminals.

The Problem

The Company needed a high-performance, highly reliable network platform for remote management for use in satellite ground stations. Performance had to be sufficient to handle voice, data and video information in stations located around the globe with the ability to support a large number of applications not typically well-serviced by terrestrial communications systems. Cost had to be kept low in order not to further burden service provider service charges. Due to the remoteness of the facilities, the key factor was high reliability. The need for long solution life necessitated the use of long-life embedded components. This reduced the maintenance burden and maximized the company's investment in product certifications.

The Solution

The Company chose WIN Enterprises to co-design and manufacture their platform for remote satellite management. When installed this system can quickly identify carriers affected by equipment failures. Carrier alarms can be displayed and recorded in an alarm log. The system can perform uplink power-control, based upon environmental conditions. First installed over ten years ago system failures have been extremely few.
